OUTLINE ITINERARY Talisman Travel reserves the right to alter this itinerary if required
- DAY 1 After completing our schedule of early morning pickups, we drive direct to Minster Lovell. Please note that because this is a bank holiday weekend, and we may encounter heavy traffic, we have taken the decision not to divert off the motorway to take a lunch stop. Comfort stops will be taken at motorway services to enable us to head straight for the hotel, where you will be able to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Dinner time to be advised.
- DAY 2 Following breakfast, we depart the hotel and drive direct to the historic city of Oxford for a free morning. There is so much to see and do here and we will provide you with a visitors guide to assist you. After lunch, you will board the coach for the short drive to Blenheim Palace. Home to 11th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace offers a memorable visit. Set in 2100 acres of beautiful parkland landscaped by ‘Capability’ Brown, the exquisite Baroque Palace is surrounded by sweeping lawns, formal gardens and the magnificent Lake. Inside, the scale of the Palace is beautifully balanced by the intricate detail and delicacy of the carvings, the hand painted ceilings and the amazing porcelain collections, tapestries and paintings displayed in each room. Situated in Woodstock, just 8 miles from Oxford, the Palace was made a World Heritage site in 1987. Late afternoon we return to the hotel for dinner.
- DAY 3 After a leisurely breakfast, we board the coach for a tour of the beautiful Cotswold countryside, stopping at some of the most interesting and prettiest towns and villages. Broadway is referred to as the "Jewel of the Cotswold’s" and Chipping Campden - "one of the loveliest small towns in the Cotswold’s. So sit back and enjoy. Your inclusive lunch will be taken in The Fleece Inn Public House in Bretforton. The Fleece Inn is without equal in England. Owned by the Byrd family since the days of Chaucer, it was bequeathed by Lola Taplin to the National Trust in 1977. The building was originally a longhouse and has remained largely undisturbed in its architecture and atmosphere since the mid 17th Century. Let’s hope for some sunshine so that we can enjoy the lovely garden. Back on the coach, we continue our tour, heading back to the "Mill and Old Swan" mid afternoon. Time to relax before dinner.
- DAY 4 After a leisurely breakfast and checking out, we begin our homebound journey, detouring slightly for a visit to “The Herb Farm” in rural south Oxfordshire. Food and beverages will be available and, weather permitting, there will be time to stroll in the display garden or do a spot of shopping in the “Barn Shop” or try the “Saxon Maze” (if you don’t return to the coach on time – we will know where you are!). Plenty of room in the coach, should you want to purchase plants. After one more comfort stop enroute home, we hope to arrive back in our location, early evening.
