BOOKING CONDITIONS AND GENERAL INFORMATION
FOR SHORT BREAK TOURS

  • CONTRACTS. A contract between Talisman Travel and you is made when you make a booking and we accept by written confirmation. If you are signing the booking form on behalf of others, you will do so as their agent and they will be deemed to have accepted all the terms of the contract. Very occasionally it may be necessary to make minor changes to the advertised holiday. Should significant alterations be required, we will inform you immediately and you will have an option of withdrawing from your contract with no penalties or transferring your contract to another Talisman Travel tour.

  • DOOR TO DOOR COLLECTION SERVICE. This service is provided to all our customers. It is a free service if your home address is within the Romney Marsh, in Dymchurch or Hythe. For all other areas, a taxi will be arranged by us to collect you from your home address and convey you to a pre-determined point to liaise with the tour coach, and return you to your home address at the end of the tour. Talisman Travel agrees to pay 50% of the total cost of taxi hire. You agree to pay the remaining 50% of the total cost of taxi hire. This will be payable with your final balance payment and shown as a separate item on your invoice.

  • PAYMENTS. We ask for a deposit of £50.00 per person for all our tours. The balance of your tour should be paid no later than 28 days before the date of departure. Cheques should be made payable to Talisman Travel and sent to the above address. Cash payments are also acceptable, payable directly to the above address. A receipt will be issued.

  • CANCELLATIONS. A cancellation from you can only be accepted in writing and becomes effective from the date received at our office. As this incurs administrative costs, and we may not be able to resell your booking, cancellation charges will apply as follows:

    • More than 28 days before departure - loss of deposit.
    • 22 days - 28 days before departure - 30% of total holiday price.
    • 15 days - 21 days before departure - 45% of total holiday price.
    • 8 days - 14 days before departure - 60% of total holiday price.
    • 7 days or under - 100% of total holiday price.

    In the unlikely event of us having to cancel the tour we will either offer you an alternative departure date for the same or similar tour or, if this is unacceptable to you, refund all monies paid by you to us. Talisman Travel reserves the right to cancel a tour should we fail to obtain the minimum economic number required to operate the tour. Notification will be made to you in writing no less than 28 days before the departure date.

  • INCLUDED IN THE COST OF YOUR HOLIDAY. Your coach seat and all sight-seeing excursions and entrance fees as detailed on the respective itinerary. Return Channel crossings where applicable. Accommodation and meals as stated for each individual tour. All road tolls and taxes.

  • NOT INCLUDED IN THE COST OF YOUR HOLIDAY. Travel Insurance. Meals other than those stated on the tour details. Meals and beverages en-route. Optional excursions, entrance fees etc, unless otherwise stated on the tour details.

  • ITINERARIES. We reserve the right to alter itineraries. This will only be done in the interest of the passengers or to remain within the E.C. rules and regulations regarding driver hours.

  • HEALTH. You will need a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to receive necessary healthcare during a visit to a European Economi Area (EEA) country or Switzerland.
  • In most countries around the world you will have to pay for treatment so travellers are strongly advised to take out private health insurance. The UK has reciprocal healthcare agreements with some countries, which enables travellers to receive free or low cost emergency care.

    Apply online The quickest and easiest way to apply for an EHIC is online. Your card will be delivered within seven days.

    Apply by phone. To apply by phone, call 0845 606 2030. When your application is completed, your card will be delivered within 10 days.

    Apply by post To apply by post, pick up the EHIC form and pre-addressed envelope from the Post Office. Your card will be delivered within 21 days. For a nominal fee, the Post Office will check your completed application form and forward it for processing. This service is optional. If you are applying by post and you lose the pre-addressed envelope, send your completed application form to:

  • TRAVEL DOCUMENTS. For all continental tours you will require a full and valid 10-year passport. Non British passport holders are asked to check with the Embassies or Consulates of the countries to be visited to confirm the passport or visa requirements needed for your particular circumstances. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THAT ALL NECESSARY TRAVEL DOCUMENTS – PASSPORTS, VISAS, VACCINATION CERTIFICATES ETC ARE VALID. WE CANNOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY IF PASSENGERS ARE NOT IN POSSESSION OF THE CORRECT TRAVEL DOCUMENTS. TRAVEL WILL BE REFUSED ON CONTINENTAL TOURS TO PASSENGERS WITHOUT A VALID PASSPORT.

  • TALISMAN TRAVEL. Fully accepts responsibility for making the necessary arrangements for your tour which are fully within our control and of course accepts liability for these matters. However, certain matters fall outside our control and we are therefore not prepared to accept liability or responsibility for the following:

    • Journey times mentioned are only estimated and we therefore cannot be held responsible for any loss of time (however caused).
    • Channel crossings can be affected by industrial action and adverse weather conditions and have to be cancelled or re-arranged. We cannot accept liability for this.
  • We cannot be held responsible for the cancellation of your holiday due to war, the treat of war, riots, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial action, natural disasters, fire, closure of ports, airports and similar events beyond our control.

  • VEHICLES. Unless otherwise stated the vehicles used on all our tours will be our own midi-coaches. In all cases smoking is prohibited.

  • TRAVEL INSURANCE. We would strongly advise full Travel Insurance cover. We do not arrange Travel Insurance for you and the cost is not included in the price of your holiday. We do recommend the services of certain companies and this will be detailed on our booking form.

  • NO SURCHARGE GUARANTEE. In these uncertain times, no company can be sure that surcharges may not be levied. In only limited circumstances, surcharges will apply

  • YOUR FINANCIAL SECURITY. In line with the E.C directive on package holidays, to provide financial guarantees to our clients, all monies paid in respect of tours will be placed into a client trust account at Lloyds TSB Bank.

  • COMPLAINTS. In the unlikely event that you have a complaint whilst on tour, please immediately inform the tour driver or tour manager who will do their best to rectify the problem. If the matter cannot be resolved on the spot, you must record the facts of your complaint in writing and give a copy to the company representative and send a copy to the proprietors of Talisman Travel within 28 days.

  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS. Please advise us at the time of booking if you have any special requirements i.e. rooming or coaching requirements. Whilst we will always make every effort to ensure that these are honoured, Talisman Travel cannot guarantee them. Particular rooming requirements are at the discretion of the hotel and particular coach seats will only be reserved for passengers if requested at the time of booking and on a “first come, first served” basis.
